Tyler Perry, aka Madea makes us all laugh with his humor, but he has a lesson in his plays and writings. He has never been shy about his faith and includes it in his work.In Higher Is Waiting, Tyler Perry shares spritural lessons he learned as he grew up. The book is written in the style of a devotional with a story, lesson learned and scripture to back it up.
The book is divided into four sections using the analogy of a tree; planting seeds, nourishing the roots, branching out and harvesting the fruit.
Here are a few lessons from Higher is Waiting:
- Be aware of these different types of people in your life; leaf, branch and root people. Leaf people are those in your life for a short time, they are only around for a season and then fall off. Branch people are stronger than the leaf people but need care. They are around for much longer than the leaf people but won’t be able to weather very heavy storms. Root people are those who will always be there for you no matter the season of your life. The lesson here is that you can’t be upset with people for the role they play in your life, that’s just how it’s meant to be.
- Guard your dream from dream killers. Don’t just tell anyone your dreams, protect them and guard them with your heart. Open up to only people you trust and who will not belittle your dreams. Even those who are close to you may want to talk you out of your dreams. Pray for wisdom as you seek advice.
- Realize that there may be different ways to get to your dreams and be open to different ways of getting there.
